The Day of Arafah 1436-2015

September 15, 2015 (Tuesday) is the 1st day of Dhul Hijjah 1436. The day of Arafah is on Wednesday, September 23, 2015 and Eid Al-Adha 1436 is on September 24, 2015 (Thursday) Insha’Allah. The Islamic Community Center of Phoenix follows Saudi Arabia Hajj authorities’ announcement of the day of ‘Arafah and Eid Al-Adha.

Concerning the benefits of fasting the day of Arafah, the scholars in agreement that, it is advised to all except the pilgrims in Mecca, to fast. It is narrated in Sahih Muslim on the authority of Abi-Qatadah that the prophet (pbuh) said, “fasting the day of Arafat abolishes sins of two years, one past and one coming. And fasting the day of Ashoraa abolishes sins of a past year.” We will be hosting a potluck Iftar at ICCP old Masjid for all of the community members who are fasting the day of Arafah, remind your family and friends to fast the day of Arafat and come join us to celebrate this blessed day together.

  1. When does Iftar start? I’m absolutely confused! A few sites told me it was 7:00… But really?
